Duvet Bedding - Five Star Bedding For the Home
You are at a five start hotel in the beautiful city of Paris. As you wait for the hotel clerk you picture yourself laying on the biggest and softest clouds you can imagine. All you want to do is relax and get your mind at ease. As you finally reach your hotel room, you open the door to discover the most beautiful hotel room you have ever seen. You take off your shoes and run straight to the bed and you pinch yourself. This has to be a dream. The sheets feel as soft as silk and are super comfortable. You quickly dose off. The next morning you can't help but ask the hotel manager where he did he get such a wonderful comforter set. He looks at you confused, then smiles and says, " Oh yes the duvet bedding". You nod but can't help ask, " What is a duvet?"
The reason I started this story off in a Five Star hotel in Paris is quite simple. Duvet covers are quite popular in many five star hotels and spas in Europe. The duvet cover is used in Europe as often as we Americans use a comforter for our beds. I know many of us still do not know what a duvet cover is. Well amigo, it is decorative cover for your comforter. Putting on a duvet cover is quite simple once you get the hang of it. First you turn over the duvet cover and reach inside and grab each end. Then you grab each end of the comforter while your hands are still inside the duvet. Next you shake the cover over the comforter and seal it shut with either the duvet covers buttons, zipper or ties. The duvet cover looks almost like a giant pillowcase. Does the same job a pillowcase does to a pillow. It prevents comforters from getting old, worn and dirty. I love the way it looks spread on the bed. Unlike a comforter, it looks quite elegant because it is more put together then a comforter. That is if you purchase the right one.
When shopping for a Duvet Set always make sure to pay close attention to the measurements of both the cover and the comforter. It is always best to purchase the duvet cover with the same measurements as the comforter or 2-3 inches larger than the comforter. Buying it too small for the comforter will make the bedding look too bulky. We need it to look simple and put together. Purchasing a comforter too small for your Bed Cover and you will have your comforter moving around the duvet like fish in water. Look at the pillowcase for example. Imagine placing a pillow inside a pillowcase that is too large. The pillow is going to shift just like the comforter would if purchased too small. This is very important when shopping online. You don't want to purchase the wrong one and come to realize it after opening the bedding from its box or package.
Many online bedding stores will not allow opened bedding because it is against health regulations. Many customers complain about how the Return Policy is unfair. I think the Return Policy makes complete sense. Imagine knowing that a bedding store will allow anyone to open and use the bedding, then return it. You will probably end up buying back a bedding piece that someone else has already used. Not healthy at all. Knowing that a bedding store does not allow used bedding is actually a good thing, just as long as they do allow returns.
Duvet bedding is so much easier to clean than comforters. I think that is why many hotels stick with this type of bedding. They save a lot more money cleaning the duvet set then they would with a fancy comforter set. Honestly, I gave up on comforters as my top decorative bedding piece a long time ago. I recommend everyone to try a comforter cover. I will guarantee that you will fall in love with it and you will thank me.
